The key to living fully is knowing you’re dying. No matter how old you are, you are dying. You are born, then you start dying. It’s true for all of us.
“First you have to give up, first you have to KNOW… not fear… KNOW… that someday you’re gonna die.”
• From the movie Fight Club
And here’s an exercise or you to make this real. It only takes a half hour or so and will change every day of the rest of your life. Do you want to know what it is? It’s not what you think. It might sound crazy. It might sound awful. Okay, enough suspense—write your own obituary! Really. Write an honest account of your life to this point, then write how you want it to go from here until you die. This will help you see very clearly how you’ve lived so far and what you want to experience in the rest of your life. You may like to print out your obituary and display it somewhere in your home where you will see it often.
I leave you with one of the best movie scenes ever. This is a must watch. It’s truly one of the best movie scenes ever—so far. Maybe you’ll be the one who makes an amazing movie next year that touches the lives of people? What must you do here? What must you experience here?
Remember your mantra for today: NOURISHING MOVEMENT, NOURISHING FOOD, NOURISHING LIFE.
